Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must provide and maintain proof of auto insurance
- Must possess a good driving record (no major violations in past 5 years)
- Must complete background investigation
- Must complete mandatory orientation and trainings
Commitment:
- Commitment of one year of service
- Commitment of a minimum of 16 volunteer hours per month, on average
- Commitment to attend on-going (monthly) training as required
- Commitment to attend an annual minimum of 9-hours, on-going, in-service education
Examples of Duties:
- To create a visible presence to deter crime
- To actively patrol neighborhood areas
- To observe, record and report suspicious activities
- To work with sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality
- To assure personal and public safety, at all times
- To document and maintain monthly time records and reports
- To complete all initial required forms and maintain current information in volunteer file
- To participate in neighborhood and community education and awareness activities
- To assist with the development, growth and monitoring of the COP Program
- To assist with public speaking and program promotion
Working Conditions:
- Shift work
- Driving in various weather conditions
- Sitting for several hours at a time
Citizens on Patrol volunteers patrol
areas include but are not limited to: Gold Canyon, Queen Valley, San Tan
Valley, Arizona City, Uninincorporated areas surrounding Apache Junction,
Coolidge, Florence, Casa Grande, Hidden Valley, Thunderbird Farms,
Stanfield, and Red Rock.
